There are plenty of things you can do in your off hours, but none pay off quite so well as getting involved in student organizations on campus.

Think about it. When you join a student organization, you make friends, explore new interests, and learn skills that will help you succeed wherever you go after college. What could be more valuable than that?

There are opportunities for students to participate in over 500 registered student organizations at East Carolina University! ECU has a variety of groups that include everything from student government, artistic and special interest groups, greek life, to health and wellness, social, cultural and identity interest groups, religious organizations, and sports and recreation clubs, and more. If you have an interest, we have a student organization for you!

Engage makes searching for a student organization easy. Use the organization’s name, your interest category, or any keywords get a list of organizations that could be a match for you. You can then go to the organization’s Engage page to discover more about a specific organization.


Start an Organization

Take the lead and start a new organization. If you have a passion that is not already closely represented by an existing student organization, start your own! SOC is responsible for supporting student organizations through the recognition process. Recognition is the process whereby student organizations become “official”. The process is simple and once your organization is recognized on campus as an active organization, you can begin recruting members and broadening the horizans of the ECU community.

Funding For Your Organization

Student organizations can explore different options to fund your oranization. One main way to receive funding is through the Student Government Association. SGA provides funding for student organization for events, travel, and supplies.
